Thursday, April 12th @ 1pm, La Fiesta in MV

First event! Even if it’s just me, it’ll be tasty Mexican! :)

La Fiesta is near downtown Mountain View and has fantastic enchiladas and such. I’ll be there around 1pm, wearing a red SmugMug hat, and will just grab a table with the first handful of people who show up.

Please comment if you’re planning on coming so we can give La Fiesta a heads up if, by some miracle, it’s a large # of people.

See ya there! Tell your friends.

    Dude, I’m envious. Why am I not in silly valley… Are you willing to host an L.A. chapter of lunchgeeks?

    @Robert:

    If you or someone else down in LA wants to do this regularly, yeah, I’ll give you a blog account so you (or whomever) can publish the days & times.

    To keep the noise down, I think I’ll have to limit it to one per major metropolitan area or create subblogs or something, but let’s deal with that when the time comes :)

    Sounds good to me. I’ll try and get the local geeks (Barcampers, I mean you!) involved.

    Way back in the mid 1980s the CPM User Group in DC met monthly, then afterwards we all went out to one of the many good restaurants in the China Town section of DC. At times we numbered well over a dozen. When the User Group disbanded (IBM-DOS became too popular) so we renamed the group that went to eat calling it the FoodSIG. Two of us regulars went to SOG-VI in Bend Oregon in the summer 1986 and mentioned that we were having a Food-SIG one evening at Chen’s Chinese Restaurant. Poor restaurant didn’t know what was about to happen. Before the evening was over 55 hungry geeks descended on the eatery. Only one waitress was available for our room, But she and the 4 generations of the Chen family received a standing ovation for the wonderful service and fantastic food.

    Sadly the DC Food-SIG dwindled as some of the group moved away, and others just got too busy to coordinate day and times for a dozen people, job schedule, church choir, and family obligations do have a way of wrecking a good thing.

    I don’t think my waist line has recovered from those meals yet.

    I found your site & thoughts very helpful in my dealings with S3 & YUI. I’ll try my best to make it down the peninsula for lunch. Would be cool to get to meet you.

    Planning to be there! I’ve been reading your blog with great interest, since within the past few months we also have had some trouble with Rackable, have been considering Sun, and have been extensively considering S3. :) Should be a fun time!
